The Russia Playground Project will be underway beginning on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 through Saturday, April 14, 2018.
This has been a project that has been in the works for well over a year now. A grant was awarded by the Land & Water Conservation Fund in excess for $143,260.00 for the project. In addition, the village has received a generous anonymous donation towards the project. The total cost of the project is budgeted for $286,500. In order to keep the cost of construction low, volunteers will be needed to help construct the 2 towers to be located on the site as well as help install several free-standing playground objects. A poured in place rubber surface will encompass the playground area to provide a soft surface to play. Site managers from Miracle Midwest will be on-hand to help supervise the construction.
Since the project is a community build, we will need a total of 30-40 volunteers per day to help construct the playground. Basic tools (hammer, screwdrivers, etc.) will be needed to help with the project, and site managers from Miracle Midwest will be on-hand to guide volunteers with the construction.
A light breakfast and a lunch will be provided. The project will commence rain or shine and will take place directly east of the tennis/basketball court facilities.
Please consider volunteering for the build as it is a very large project. Volunteers will be needed to also prepare food for all who are helping with the build. "Runners" may also be needed to get items not on-hand. Thank you all for your consideration!
