It is our pleasure at AAA Shelby County along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelby County Sheriff Department, Fort Loramie Police Department, Sidney City Police and our local sponsors Meyer’s Garage, Marco’s Pizza, Bob Evans of Sidney, Francis Schulze Company and Regal Trophy to announce the winner of the 2015 AAA Traffic Safety Challenge.
In September, we invited students from Fort Loramie and Russia to participate in a traffic safety challenge. The objective of the challenge was to see which school could demonstrate a culture of safety that exceeds their peers’ at a rival school.
We asked students to spread the word within their community; to their parents, friends and family to improve traffic safety habits. We are very happy to announce that during our observation period both communities demonstrated a culture of 76.7% and 77.4% compliance observing basic traffic safety.
The competition was very close!
Please continue to observe and improve your safety efforts. Those efforts should not stop now.
We would also like to stress there is still room for improvement with almost 25% not following some type of basic traffic safety.
Remember, wear your seat belt at all times and obey speed limits, especially in and around school zones. “Don’t Txt n DrV” and make sure to stop at all stop signs even those with minimal traffic. As Russia’s Principal Bensman stated, “It’s a Stop sign….not a suggestion”. Those are wise words.
Congratulations to Fort Loramie Schools as the winner of the challenge!
Thursday, November 19th, at Fort Loramie schools every student will receive their treat during lunch. On December 11th, during the break between the JV and Varsity boys Basketball game at Ft. Loramie, we will hold a drawing for 4 AAA Visa Gift cards. Two students will win a $150 Visa Gift Card and two students will win a $50 Visa Gift Card. All Ft. Loramie school students will be entered into the drawing and eligible to win.
Thanks to both schools for your participation and please continue to drive safely!
