Saturday, Sept. 26th 2pm to 4pm at German Heritage Days Downtown Fort Loramie.
Why a reunion? To gather, celebrate, share stories, experiences and friendships that occurred over the approximately 80 years that Fort Loramie Cast Stone Products operated while raising money and awareness for Alzheimers and Cancer research. Ted, John and Charlie Wendeln's golden years, like too many others, were and have been affected by cancer and Alzheimer's (John battled Alzheimer's prior to passing away 1/31/11, Ted battled cancer for 23 years before passing away 3/19/13 and Charlie and his family are currently living with the effects of Alzheimer's)
MillerCoors and Country Concert '16 will be making a donation to the American Cancer Society and Alzheimer's Association in Ted, John and Charlie's name, along with all the past Fort Loramie Cast Stone Products workers that sign in at the Reunion. Friends and customers of Fort Loramie Cast Stone Products are welcome to join the fun! Many cool raffle prizes will be available to win - Leinenkugel's Metal Fire Pit, Miller Lite Tabletop Gas Grill, Leinenkugel's Brushed Metal Frame Clock, Leinenkugel's Dart Cabinet Set, Miller Lite Regulation Corn Hole Game and more! Members of Ted, John and Charlie's family, along with 34 year employee Ron Pleiman plan to be at the Reunion to say hello!
Fort Loramie Cast Stone was established in 1929 by Harry Wendeln next to the house he shared with his wife Arnolda (Hilgefort) and their children Al, Don, Leo, Rita, Ted, John & Charlie. Ted, John & Charlie became partners and operators of the business after Harry passed away in 1965. Fort Loramie Cast Stone produced and supplied painted and unpainted decorative concrete statues, stepping stones and more to stores across the region and attracted many customers from all over to Fort Loramie to the store. Fort Loramie Trading Post purchased the property in 2010 and decided to sell the concrete products at the new business after people would continue to drive hours to Fort Loramie looking for Fort Loramie Cast Stone Products. Through the years Fort Loramie Cast Stone employed many young people as they worked through high school, college and began their work careers. Fort Loramie Cast Stone Products, also, supported many local schools and charitable causes over the years.
