Below is a email Fish Report received written by Sarah:
As many of you know I am entering the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George this coming September.
I know without a shadow of a doubt that this is where God is calling me to, and my heart longs to do His will. I have never been more at peace or more joyful than when I surrendered to Him and said I would enter! However, I have a few student loans that are prohibiting me from entering.
Many of you might be asking yourself why I have student loans, because I was on a basketball scholarship at OSU. While yes, I was on scholarship, it did not cover all the day to day expenses like gas, car insurance, etc, especially for the first two years. This is why the NCAA has been debating whether or not to give more money to student-athletes because most do not have the time to work a job and be dedicated to their sport at the same time. This is why I have some student loans to pay off.
This year I have been doing a year of service in St. Louis through the Vincentian Service Corps and have been paying off my loans but very slowly.
So my major fundraiser that I am doing is a bike ride from my house in St. Louis to the convent in Alton. It will be about 65 miles round trip and I am trying to find people to sponsor the mileage. You don't have to sponsor a whole mile if you cannot do so, but please consider sponsoring a shorter distance.
When I reach the convent I will make a holy hour before the Blessed Sacrament bringing before Our Lord all the intentions of those who are sponsoring me. I will also be praying for my sponsors as I bike, so if you sponsor a mile I will pray for you during one of the miles of my ride and if you sponsor me for a quarter mile I will be praying for you during a quarter of a mile of my ride.
I have attached a flyer (www.scribd.com/doc/91779810/Journey-to-the-Convent-2)that I will be putting in churches that I attend, if anyone wants to hang them up or forward this email on, I would be very grateful for your help!
The flyer explains how to donate and also has the websites of my current volunteer program, the Sisters website and also my blog so you will be able to find out more information. Both attachments are the same but some people might not be able to open the pdf so the other attachment should work. If you have problems please contact me and I will get you the info.
Thank you in advance for your generosity! Please know that I can only enter in September if I am debt free, so thank you in advance for helping me to make my dreams come true!
God bless you!
Sarah
Ps: Please forward on! Thanks!
